异种抗原和Galili抗原是负责急性免疫排斥的主要抗原，证实为-半乳糖基表位。 最初识别的此类抗原是线形-B三糖 (Galili et al. 1985, 1987)，命名为 Gal1-3Galβ1-4GlcNAc。
-半乳糖抗原表位在非灵长类和新世界猴类细胞中表达丰富，而在人类、猿和旧世界猴类中匮乏，由此产生大量抗该抗原的抗半乳糖抗体。这种互动的主要临床意义体现在猪器官移植到人和猴子会产生排斥反应。 (Zhao Chun chen et al., Glycobiology,vol.11, 2001).
